PLAYOFFS PREDICTIONS | CHALLENGER LEAGUE SEASON 7

We already saw a thrilling display last weekend as the Top 12 teams from the Master League clashed, and this weekend it’s time for more, with the Challenger League taking the stage!

With the Playoffs approaching, the Challenger writers this season (and a few more) got together to create the ultimate prediction. It is sure to be entirely incorrect, but it’s all fun and games, and anyone who has experienced an IEL Playoffs before is more than aware of the unpredictable powers that come into play. Make sure to tune into our twitch channel to catch the action this weekend.

GROUP A

The Playoffs format is quite different from the previous seasons. There are two groups of six from each of which three teams progress, qualifying for the single elimination knockout stage.

We predicted Bad Karma Esports and Primal Esports to drop out in the first round.

Something that may come as a surprise to most is that we predicted Shaman to win all matches and progress into the knockout stage as the 1st seed, beating the #1 seed eNightmare in the process. This comes down to eNightmare missing their star player BubbleZ and a bit of Playoffs magic, of course.

We expect Shaman, Overture and eNightmare to progress into Day 3.

GROUP B

Group B looks like the more stacked of the groups, and it was very difficult to predict who would progress into the knockout stage.

We predicted Elated and Insanely Mechanically to fall out in the first round.

Someone you maybe won’t expect to qualify is Aardwolf Esports who come in with a weak 9-7 record from League Play. However, with roster changes, we think that an underdog, or rather an underwolf story may be on the cards.

Dormant and Reflux join Aardwolf in Day 3.

FINAL BRACKET

After two days of actions, the top six teams will face each other in a single-elimination bracket.

In Round 1, eNightmare, with the returning BubbleZ beat Reflux 4-2. Aardwolf send Overture home with an emphatic 4-1 victory.

In Round 2, eNightmare continue their streak as they beat Shaman 4-2. Dormant just get the better of a hot Aardwolf, giving them a spot in the Grand Final against eNightmare.

In the Grand Final, Dormant beat eNightmare 4-2, meaning they win the Challenger League for the second season in a row after their resounding triumph last season.
