Fidelity Esports (7-1)

This week was a good one for Fidelity and they managed to step up for that occasion with 2 wins and rising to 1st place. They played against Galamo and reverse swept them, which was an important win for them to have and showed their rivals who is the stronger team. Bad Karma was their other opponent but that ended up in a FF win for Fidelity. This team has been having a really good performance throughout League Play and it’s a team to look out for, because they look scary on the field. Next week, they will be facing Zero Fox Gaming and Override Esports. Zero Fox being the only unbeaten team in the Academy and Override being a top team, this looks to be the toughest week for Fidelity.

Ignite Esports (7-1)

A team that in the start, there were some doubts on how they would end up performing in League Play, Ignite has been switching gears and they are starting to get some good results under their belt. This week they had to face Reflux which ended up in a FF win and Shadow whom they beat 3-1 without any major difficulties. With this Ignite ended up in 3rd place and with a much better chance to get into the playoffs. Next week, they will be facing Zero Mercy and Aster which should be a doable week for Ignite.

Override Esports (6-2)

Override is a team who has managed to always stay within the top 6 so far, which is a good thing given those who are in the top 4 will get a playoffs spot and Override is pretty close to that area, however they will need to keep up having good results by the end of the week otherwise everything will fall down. Override has played against Hamburg Sharks and Zero-G and got two 3-2 wins, which was a good week for them to make their record a bit more consistent. Next week, they will be facing Dexterity and Fidelity Esports which could be a very difficult week and damage their record.

Hamburg Sharks (5-3)

This team has always been in the middle of the standings sitting between 6th and 10th place, however given we are coming into week 5, Hamburg Sharks will need to have a really good performance either in week 5 or week 6, if they want a good chance in making it into playoffs. This week was a tough one for them, they played against Shaman Esports and won 3-2 against them which was a huge win for them but against Override they ended up losing 3-2. Their next opponents will be Fearless Esports and Bad Karma which should be a good week for them.

Game to Watch: Override Esports vs Dexterity

The battle between 5th place in both conferences will promise to be a very important game to see which team will be able to be a step closer to a comfortable top 4 spot. This is a cross-conference series, so we don’t know much about Dexterity but coming into this series they will have to deal with Override which is a team that could pop off if they find a way to take them down however if that does happen Dexterity should have the upper hand, since they have been having better results.

Prediction: Override Esports 3-2 Dexterity

Top 6 Predictions

  1. Fidelity Esports
  2. Ignite Esports
  3. Galamo Esports
  4. Shaman Esports
  5. Hamburg Sharks
  6. Override Esports

Zero Fox Gaming (8-0)

Zero Fox Gaming are the only unbeaten team left in their Conference, and across the whole of Academy League as well. Their win rate of 68.75% and a goal difference of 19 implies that they never really dominate their opponents, they just do enough to win each series and that ability to consistently grind out results is something that could lead to them being the first team in IEL history to finish league play unbeaten. They recorded arguably their most impressive result of the season this week, beating previously unbeaten Disconnected eSports 3-2 to make an enormous statement to all their other opponents. They also managed a sweep against Austrian Force, with Louie being the standout player and scoring 8 goals. Their fixtures next week are their cross-Conference clash with their table-topper counterparts, Fidelity Esports, and then a similarly tough match against Dexterity. If they can come out of next week with their unbeaten record intact, their chances of being the first team to finish league play unbeaten increase dramatically.

Zero Mercy (6-2)

This team might not be talked about as much as Disconnected eSports or Zero Fox Gaming but they are doing well, keeping pace near the top of the Omicron Conference with a 6-2 record, a win rate of 71.43% and a goal difference of 58, the highest out of any team in Academy League. Their results this week were a forfeit win against Team Berserkers and then a comfortable 3-1 win against eMerge Gaming where their opponents were using a sub. Simsy was required to make 6 saves but it was eMerge Gaming that had to do most of the defending as Ragoon made 14 saves and bombi recorded 6 saves as Zero Mercy had 43 shots across the series and they suffocated eMerge Gaming with their constant pressure. Next week they have a tough cross-Conference game against Ignite Esports and then a slightly easier game against Valor Esports. They are on track to qualify for playoffs in style and just need to keep playing the way they currently are to get there.

Fearless Esports (5-3)

This team had an average start in the Omicron Conference but this week will help their cause as they try to mount a playoff push in the remaining weeks. Both their series were played on Thursday, and both were wins. Their first win came against Overture by a margin of 3 games to 1 and their sub, Fearless Shadez, had the most points per game and chipped in with 5 goals, proving to be reliable when called upon. Their second win was more impressive though, beating one of the main playoff chasers, Dexterity 3-2 which will give them a lot of confidence going into the rest of the season. Their opponents next week are Austrian Force and Hamburg Sharks. Their series against Austrian force is definitely winnable but their series against Hamburg Sharks will be very interesting and could play a big part into whether Fearless Esports can secure a playoff spot or not.

Zenith (4-4)

Not many people thought Zenith would do much this season and they have proven to be a very inconsistent team. One week they look hopeless and the next they look like serious playoff contenders. That has left them with a 4-4 record, a win rate of 50% and a goal difference of 9 at the time of writing. Their results this week have been encouraging though, firstly reverse sweeping Valor Esports, featuring a crazy 8-4 win and shez stepping up with 10 goals in 4 games. Their other series was a sweep against Aardwolf Esports to propel them up the table. Zenith released BigPig due to availability issues and replaced him with Makkert before the start of that week. They will be hoping that this week isn’t a false dawn as they play eNightmare and eMerge Gaming next week. They should be able to beat eMerge with relative comfort and eNightmare are a team that started well but faded away. Zenith will be looking to shut down any hopes of a revival from eNightmare and put themselves into the playoff race.

Game to Watch: Disconnected Esports vs Vinctio

Disconnected eSports are no longer unbeaten, and this week, they have an incredibly tough pair of fixtures. It would be such a shame if the wheels were to come off because Disconnected eSports looked so dominant for so long before they tasted defeat against Zero Fox Gaming. On the other hand, Vinctio are quietly going about their business, as they try to keep themselves in the playoff places and a win against Disconnected eSports will be huge for them, since it will be one of their hardest fixtures this season, and any win edges them closer to their goal of getting to the playoffs. This series could define both team’s seasons, and if Disconnected eSports lose, that could plant some seeds of self-doubt and potentially derail an otherwise excellent season. If Vinctio lose, it makes their task of getting into playoffs harder, and they lose ground on the main front runners in Omicron Conference. With that being said, I am confident that Disconnected eSports will bounce back and continue their push for playoffs.

Prediction: Disconnected 3-1 Vinctio

And here we go, the end of the first half of league play! With that, comes the inter-conference week, making it quite a spicy week!

Let’s cover week 4 with some team writeups, a game to watch and top 6 prediction, shall we?

Week 3 mini-recap

Since we didn’t have a writeup last week, we are going to do a small recap, here are some things that happened in week 3:

Teams with 2 wins: RL Ireland, Zero Mercy, Team Berserkers, Zenith

Teams with 1 win and 1 loss: Zero Fox Gaming, Vinctio, Skorch Esports, Fearless Esports, Austrian Force, Aardwolf Esports, eMerge Gaming, LA Gaming

Teams with 2 losses: Disconnected eSports, Valor Esports, Dexterity, Overture

Biggest upset: LA Gaming 3-2 Disconnected eSports

Biggest game: RL Ireland 3-1 Aardwolf Esports

Team writeups

Skorch Esports (5-3)

Placed in 6th, Skorch Esports encounters itself in wildcard position, with a 5-3 record and a 58.33% win-rate. Last week, the team got two wins, one over Vinctio (3-1) and another against eMerge Gaming (3-2)

Composed by Doddi, Djohn20, Teather and Shower_T, the team is going to go against Bad Karma Esports in the inter-conference match, and also RL Ireland, which is at the moment topping the Zeta conference with Zero Fox Gaming.

Let’s see how they will do in this spicy week!

Zenith (3-5)

Composed by Veqa, Synx, J Sucks. and Buck1, with a quite negative week (swept against Dexterity and LA Gaming), the team is at the 12th place with a 31.03% win-rate and a 3-5 record.

Next week, they are going against Zero-G eSports in the cross-conference match, having also, in the same week, a match against Team Berserkers. We’ll see how they perform!

eMerge Gaming (1-7)

In the very bottom of the table, we find eMerge Gaming, with a 35.29% win-rate and a 1-7 win record. eMerge Gaming win rate sits, interestingly, in the 13th place of the Zeta division.

The team is going against Auto Celerity and Fearless Esports next week, having lost this week to Skorch Esports and Disconnected Esports, with the only win being against LA Gaming in week 3. Will this week change their road?

The team is composed by Puntr, Xaninho, GutBuster and IcedSpace.

Zero Mercy (6-2)

With a 62.86% win-rate, a 6-2 record and placed 3rd, Zero Mercy has been topping the table surprisingly, being above some of the teams that were considered more favourites!

With quite a positive week, winning vs LA Gaming (3-2) and Dexterity (3-1), the team is definitely looking to keep their win streak, and this next week they are going against Reflux and Austrian Force, going to be interesting if they can keep this win streak going on!

The team is composed by Laps, Royzer, Patinq and crexioN

RL Ireland (7-1)

Ending our team write-ups for this week, comes RL Ireland, a team that is in a very positive record of 7-1, a 70.97% and is located in the 2nd place!

With their only loss being against Zero Fox Gaming, RL Ireland is definitely looking pretty strong, with an on-going win streak.

This week, they won against Overture (FF) and Fearless Esports (3-2), and next week they are going against Galamo Esports and Skorch Esports.

The team is composed by Kronik, JengaBenga, LovelyCans and Ryan.

Game of the week: Aardwolf Esports 3-2 Team Berserkers

Aardwolf Esports lineup: LivaiRL, JSW, Skyskuno

Team Berserkers lineup: ClassicalsFinest, Taypie :), oduvanchic

Possibly the most balanced game of this week, and the result proves that! The match between these two teams ended up in a win for Aardwolf Esports in game 5!

The match started with a 4-2 win for Aardwolf Esports, with Team Berserkers winning 4-0 and tying up the series.

And… yes, that pattern happened the whole series! Aardwolf won game 3 1-0, Berserkers won the next game 3-2, and Aardwolf ended the series with a 6-2 win, getting the win on the series.

Most Team MVPs for Aardwolf Esports: JSW

Most Team MVPs for Team Berserkers: ClassicalFinest

Most goals: JSW (6 goals / 1.2 per game)

Most assists: Skyskuno (6 assists / 1.2 per game)

Most saves: Taypie (10 saves / 2 per game)

Game to watch: Silverbacks vs Zero Fox Gaming

The biggest game of week 5! The top dogs of both conferences are going against each other in a match where Silverbacks are the only team in challenger without a single series loss!

Going to be a very good series! Will this be another win for Silverbacks to make them continue their invincibility, or will Zero Fox Gaming rise on top and end their zero losses record? We’ll find out next week!

PREDICTION: Zero Fox Gaming 3-2 Silverbacks

Predicted TOP 6

1- Zero Fox Gaming
2- RL Ireland
3- Team Berserkers
4- Vinctio
5- Zero Mercy
6- Disconnected eSports

Written by Brun

After another exciting week in the Alpha conference, we see Reflux continue their dominance with Auto Celerity and Aster replacing Silverbacks and Shaman Esports in the top 4. Shaman Esports released their roster at the end of this week and will need to pick up a fantastic new team if they wish to continue their results and Silverbacks also suffered a massive roster overhaul after they parted ways with Ducky and Demize and replaced them with Dxnny and Draaikolk. However, this roster did not last long as Jacksean was banned from IEL early this week, thus meaning he was replaced by Bn who has a lot to live up to in the team. Hamburg Sharks and eNightmare continue to struggle as they both face off against Aster and Ignite Esports – Hamburg Sharks lost to both whereas eNightmare only lost to Aster.

Auto Celerity (5-3)

After winning the preseason tournament, Auto Celerity struggled to keep their momentum as they went 0-2 in the first week. Since then, Auto Celerity managed to turn their record around by only losing once in the past 6 games. This week, Fidelity Esports managed to give them a loss in game 5 which may be due to Bope’s game crashing in game 5. Nevertheless, they still took a loss this week which will hurt the team as they wish to continue their top 4 position. They play RL Ireland next week in the cross-conference match which will be an interesting game and Bad Karma Esports who they should be able to get the better of. Ronjayy (1887 DSN), Bope (1829 DSN) and Serve (1776 DSN) are one of the most even teams DSN wise and prove that one man carry teams are not always the best to go for in terms of team composition.

Fidelity Esports (5-3)

After winning two game 5s against Auto Celerity and Tofu And Family, Fidelity Esports are on a  hot streak as they push towards the top 4. They have only lost to Zero-G eSports, Shaman Esports and Galamo Esports. Galamo Esports and Shaman Esports both were in the top 4 at the time they played Fidelity Esports so they will not be unhappy with losing to these top teams. After releasing Treefork earlier this week for TimeConstant, results have been looking up for this team although they have a tendency to take a series to game 5. Out of their last 8 games, 5 of them have been to game 5 with them only losing one to Galamo Esports. AiiAiiRON (1903 DSN), Poddy (1875 DSN) and TimeConstant (1730 DSN) are a relatively even team in terms of DSN, with two stand out players. They managed to get the better of Auto Celerity who are 4th at the moment, which shows they can compete for a top 4 spot as they push forward. Fidelity Esports have two tough games this week as they face Aardwolf Esports in cross conference and Silverbacks who whilst they do place higher than them, have suffered after Jacksean’s departure.

Ignite Esports (3-5)

Ignite Esports have struggled this season in master, after their roster of Detroit, Rixy and Gamble fell through. After sorting out a new roster earlier on this week, Sessl (1763 DSN), Max (1718 DSN) and Steb (1662 DSN) joined the roster alongside Ethereal (1669 DSN). This is a considerably low DSN roster as they have 388 DSN to spare and this shows as they gave eNightmare their first win of the season as they were unable to take a single game off of them. However, they did manage to get the better of Hamburg Sharks in a 3-1 series. Playoffs is still in reach for this team despite their record as they have played most of the top 6 apart from Fidelity Esports and Galamo Esports. If they lose both of these matches, they may still scrape playoffs with a 9-7 record. With this team being unlikely to make playoffs, will the roster fall through once again?

Game of the Week: Reflux vs Overture

With a cross conference match on the horizon, both teams will be getting ready for arguably the best match of the season. Reflux has shown to be the best in their conference, by narrowly getting ahead of Overture by a win percentage of 0.81%. With the results being this close, the game is sure to be close and the winner will be deemed as the favourites to win the whole of master. This game is sure to be a game 5 thriller.

Prediction: Reflux 2 – 3 Overture

Top 6 Predictions

  1. Reflux
  2. Galamo Esports
  3. Shaman Esports
  4. Auto Celerity
  5. Silverbacks
  6. Aster

We are already starting to get into the halfway point for the season, and with week 5 lining up. With the cross-conference games it will be interesting to see how Alpha and Gamma line up against each other to really give us a small idea of a playoff picture.

Overture (7-1)

Overture have been the second best team overall from the two conferences. Next week will definitely be their toughest week yet as they are facing Reflux in their Cross-conference game and then Zero Fox Gaming back in Gamma. Their only loss so far was against Valor Esports who do sit in 10th place at the moment. They do look strong even against some of the better teams they have faced so far and have only dropped 1 game when they have ended up winning their series so far!

eMerge Gaming (5-3)

eMerge Gaming impressed by taking down a then 5-1 Team Berserkers and Austrian Force last week to put them in the top 3 spots. After starting off with a 1-1 week 1 there were questions for me if they were going to be finishing in the same spot as last season but it looks like they are ready to bring a bit more. Week 2 saw them bring in an ff win and a 3-1 over Zenith, but they got brought back to an equal record next week after facing Disconnected eSports and Zero Fox Gaming who managed to win. This has put them up against Galamo Esports along with having their Gamma game against Skorch Esports.

RL Ireland (5-3)
Sitting in 4th only behind eMerge Gaming on win% they will look to cement themselves into the top 4 with some good showings next week. They have so far lost to Austrian Force, Team Berserkers and Aardwolf Esports so they still have some of their tougher games remaining further down the line. For now they have to focus on Auto Celerity who sit on nearly the exact win% as RL Ireland in the other conference along with that they will face off against LA Gaming who are a bit further down the table.

Zero Mercy (3-5)
Zero Mercy are on the up right now after getting a 2-0 week with wins against Dexterity and Skorch Esports. Both results ended 3-1 in favour of the then 1-5 Zero Mercy who look to turn things around for the better. They can look to extend their form to 4 games against two teams who are also currently on a 3-5 record. Their Cross-Conference game is set to be against Fort Templar and their Gamma game will be against 13th place Austrian Force.

Game to watch: Zero Fox Gaming vs Overture
With Cross-Conference there are plenty of interesting games, but for me there is nothing like a 1st vs 2nd matchup in the same conference. Leading up to this, Zero For Gaming actually released Crusher and ended up getting last season’s Master MVP, Kephi. It will be interesting to see how Zero Fox Gaming will be looking with this addition and I think this could give them the edge they need over Overture. As for Overture I think they will have more than enough to think about this week with their game against Reflux which is also a Game to watch contender.

Top 6 Predictions

  1. Zero Fox Gaming
  2. Overture
  3. Aardwolf Esports
  4. Team Berserkers
  5. eMerge Gaming
  6. RL Ireland
