Just one week of League Play remains as the very last games play out. This is when we find out who will qualify for the prestigious Playoffs, and who will fall short.

Built By Us (9-5)

Built By Us suddenly appeared as a genuine playoff contender last week with their first 2-0 week of the season and they are continuing on the same trajectory as another 2-0 week has most likely sealed their spot in the postseason. A forfeit win against Galamo was a fortunate result at the start of the week, but they really earned their 2-0 week with an outstanding 3-1 win against playoff rivals Zero Mercy. In the last week of League Play, they face Puncture and RL Ireland, they only need one win from these two games and realistically they are not going to achieve that against the 12-2 RL Ireland, but a win against Puncture seems very achievable so playoffs should be a certainty for this team.

LA Gaming (8-6)

LA Gaming has been a dangerous yet inconsistent team this season. They have beaten or come very close to beating many top teams and yet have a tendency to struggle against weaker opponents. After having an even record for the majority of the season, they have finally broken this at the best point of the season and with one week to go they are in a prime position to get a lower seed in playoffs. This week was a week on the easier side, a forfeit win against Elated and a 3-1 victory against Silverbacks ensuring they took their playoff hopes into their own hands. Next week, they face tough opponents in Fort Templar and The Neon Flamingo. They will be hoping for another 2-0 week to consolidate their playoff spot but it will be a tough ask for the franchise in its first season.

Zero Mercy (7-7)

After looking like certain bets for playoffs at the halfway point, Zero Mercy have quickly dropped down the order and a 1-5 record in the last 3 weeks will not have helped that. They did have a tough week this week with games against Override and BBU and it was a week to forget with 2 losses putting doubt into their playoff chances. Next week isn’t much easier either with opponents of Auto Celerity and Neon Flamingo. Nothing but a 2-0 week will do and that can’t even guarantee a place in the playoffs so luck has to be on their side this week.

Game to Watch: RL Ireland vs Built By Us

Any game consisting of a 1st place and 3rd place team is set to be a great game. Both of these teams have most likely already consolidated playoffs and they aren’t even really in direct competition with each other, but this is all about the future. This will be a playoff calibre match and all experience is key at this stage. It will give the teams experience and anyone watching a great time so keep your eyes peeled for this matchup.

Prediction: RL Ireland 3-1 Built By Us

Predicted Top 6

  1. RL Ireland
  2. Fort Templar
  3. Built By Us
  4. Override Esports
  5. Elysian
  6. LA Gaming

Here we go! The penultimate week of League Play has passed and we are now very close to the end, which means that we have lots of teams that already know their fate, while some are still in the fight for those playoff spots!

Shadow Esports (7-7)

Shadow Esports hold a 7-7 record, with a 50% win-rate. We find them in the 9th position. They are composed by Snoot, Genesis, Infernox and fnx. The last time we covered them, Dennis was on the team, but due to his own request, he ended up going out of the team, being replaced by Snoot.

This week, they won against Reflux and lost against eNightmare, both in game 5. In the final week of League Play, they are going against Fearless Esports and Aardwolf Esports. We’ll see what will happen!

Reflux (9-5)

With a 64.15% win-rate, a 9-5 record, the team can be seen on the 4th position.

The team is composed by CONFNT SLAUGHTA, Shapi, G3CKO and kroken, meaning that the roster is unchanged since the beginning. They had a negative record this week, losing against Shadow Esports (3-2) and against Team Berserkers (3-1).

Next week, they are going against Zero Fox Gaming and Shaman Esports, we’ll see how they perform!

Game of the week: Shadow Esports 3-2 Reflux

What a series! After a lot of weeks where the “Game to Watch” would end in a sweep for one of the teams, this time that didn’t happen, meaning our prediction is wrong! We got a very close 3-2 series, ending positively for Shadow Esports.

Up until Game 4, the series was very back-and-forth – Reflux wins 5-2, Shadow wins the next one 3-2, Reflux 4-0 and Shadow 6-5, but game 5 ended up going to Shadow Esports, with a 3-2 after overtime. The series was so close that three out of five games ended up in overtime!

Genesis had the most team MVPs for Shadow Esports, while Kroken had the most for Reflux.

Games to watch – Multiple!

For this last week, we are going to have multiple games to watch, since all of them will end up being very important to know the teams that qualify, and also the seedings, so here are some of them!

Games (Predictions):
eNightmare vs Natural Disaster (0-3)
Natural Disaster vs Disconnected Esports (3-1)
Disconnected Esports vs Zero Fox Gaming (3-2)
Zero Fox Gaming vs Reflux (0-3)
Reflux vs Shaman Esports (3-2)
Shaman Esports vs Dexterity (3-2)
Dexterity vs Austrian Force (3-1)
Shadow Esports vs Fearless Esports (2-3)
Aardwolf Esports vs Shadow Esports (3-1)
Hive Athens EC vs Aardwolf Esports (0-3)
Team Berserkers vs Donde Esports (3-0)
Overture vs Team Berserkers (3-1)
Tofu and Family vs Overture (0-3)

Predicted Top 6

  1. Aardwolf Esports
  2. Dexterity
  3. Reflux
  4. Natural Disaster
  5. Shaman Esports
  6. Fearless Esports

Fort Templar (11-3)

Just two weeks ago we were asking if Fort Templar could achieve the first ever undefeated IEL league play season – that seems a long time ago now. After winning their first 11 games, they have now lost 3 in a row, and it’s a good thing for them that they have already qualified for playoffs! They started the week by being brushed aside in a sweep by a strong Auto Celerity side, before losing 3-2 to a team fighting for a playoffs spot, RL Ireland. FT will need to pick themselves up and regain the form they had for the majority of the season if they want to do what most people expected them to do until their last few results – win playoffs.

Reflux (10-4)

After week 5, Reflux were sitting on a 6-4 record in the Delta Conference, and looking like it would be a tough fight for playoffs in the rest of the season. But a strong showing in the last 2 weeks saw them end up with 4 wins on the bounce, and a spot in playoffs is pretty much wrapped up with the final week’s games still to be played. They started week 7 with a 3-1 win over Elated Esports, and sealed their spot in playoffs in style with a sweep against Override Esports. Next week a game against Fort Templar is in store, and although both teams have already reached the 10 win threshold, Reflux will look to make a statement by getting a win in that game.

RL Ireland (9-5)

Another playoff hopeful team, RL Ireland started week 7 with a record of 8-4, knowing they could confirm themselves in playoffs with two wins. They started well with the surprising victory over Fort Templar, but then fell in a sweep to Skorch Esports. They will be disappointed to not have wrapped it up already, but they will be confident going into the final week of the season with games against Elated Esports and Regulars, two teams that they should be brushing aside without issue.

Game to Watch: Fearless Esports vs Disconnected Esports

Fearless and Disconnected have records of 8-6 and 7-7 respectively, so need to give everything in the final week of fixtures to fight for the wildcard spots. Finishing 9-7 gives a team an outside chance of playoffs, whereas 10-6 is almost certain. So a win for Fearless would cement their spot (if they win their other week 8 game against eNightmare) and knock out DCE, and the opposite results would leave it all up to other results and win %.

Predicted top 6:

  1. LA Gaming
  2. Fort Templar
  3. Auto Celerity
  4. Reflux
  5. RL Ireland
  6. The Neon Flamingo

Elysian (12-2)

Currently 2nd in the Zeta conference, Elysian have had a stellar League Play thus far. Having already qualified for Playoffs, their sole motivation in the final week of League Play will be Playoffs seeding, which can have a crucial impact on their Playoff performance. Last week, they beat Puncture 3-1 and had an unnerving defeat to Austrian Force, who seem to have picked up their form again. Next week, they face Donde Esports and Team Bersekers. Donde are currently 5-9 and Elysian will look to take a comfortable win there, but the challenge will be against Team Berserkers who are a stellar team.

Team Berserkers (10-4)

Team Berserkers currently sit in 4th in the Zeta conference and have almost secured their place in the Playoffs. The all-German side has been a little up-and-down in recent weeks, going 3-3 in their last six. Last week, they only just beat out Zero Mercy 3-2 before losing 3-1 to Silverbacks, who are also contending for Playoffs. Their final week of League Play is the most challenging yet as they have to face Zero Fox Gaming and Elysian, two titans of the Challenger Division.

Silverbacks (9-5)

When you think of the top Challenger teams, you’ll be unlikely to find Silverbacks at the top of that list. However, they have certainly argued their case as a team of Playoffs quality. Last week, they won both games, beating out Dexterity 3-2 and getting the better of Team Berserkers, which proves their ability to compete with the best. In order to qualify for the Playoffs, they either need at least one win, but preferably two to have it in their own hands. They face Austrian Force and Aardwolf, so it is certainly achievable, though Austrian Force will likely prove challenging.

Game of the Week: Elysian vs Team Berserkers

Elysian vs Team Berserkers will be a very good game to watch this week as both teams have their own records at stake even though they’re both top 4.

With Elysian being 12-2 they will want to take this game to confirm they stop in the top 2 as its looking very likely that 13 wins will be enough to take it, this will mean they will be in the top #4 seeds which gives them a bye in the first round of playoffs.

Team Berserkers this game means a little more as they’re sat at 10-4 with 2 9-5 teams right behind them. If they manage to drop this game and the one against Zero Fox Gaming(11-3) they could very well end up at 10-6 which does not look ideal after such a strong start.

Nonetheless, this should be a good game and hopefully a streamed game.

Prediction: Elysian 3-1 Team Berserkers.

Predicted Top 6

  1. Elysian
  2. Overture
  3. Zero Fox Gaming
  4. Team Berserkers
  5. Silverbacks
  6. Austrian Force

Heading into the final week of league play, it’s now time to see who is in contention for a place in the playoffs, and who could potentially qualify for a wildcard spot.

Fort Templar (12-2, 1st)

Having guaranteed themselves a place in the Top 2 of the Alpha Conference, Fort Templar will be heading into this week knowing that they only have to win one series in order to clinch that number one seed from the Alpha Conference. This week, they’ll face Zero Mercy and eMerge Gaming, two teams that should be easy pickings for Fort Templar to end their season on 14 wins and 2 losses.

eMerge Gaming (8-6, 6th)

As it stands, eMerge Gaming would qualify for the playoffs through a wildcard spot, with the highlight of their season being their 3-2 win over Shadow Esports last week. One of their opponents this week is Fort Templar, which could be an opportunity to do the unthinkable and take down the Top 2 teams in the Alpha Conference.

LA Gaming (10-4, 3rd)

LA Gaming could be in with a shout of making it into the Top 2 at the expense of Shadow Esports if things go their way this week. Coming off of their win against Reflux last week, they’ll play Austrian Force and Galamo Esports this week, providing them with a good opportunity to capitalise on Shadow’s errors, should they make them.

Game to Watch (Fort Templar vs eMerge Gaming)

This series is important to both teams, but for two different reasons. For Fort Templar, they are playing for their chance at securing the number one seed from the conference, whereas eMerge Gaming are trying to snatch a wildcard place in the playoffs, and a win here would provide a massive boost in their stake for a playoff place. On recent form, Fort Templar seems to have the upper hand, despite eMerge’s win over Shadow Esports last week, and so I believe that FT will be too strong of an opponent for eMerge to try and take down.

Prediction: Fort Templar 3-1 eMerge Gaming

Predicted Top 6

  1. Fort Templar
  2. Shadow Esports
  3. LA Gaming
  4. Reflux
  5. RL Ireland
  6. eMerge Gaming

The final week is upon us, with the master league coming to a close we finally see the playoff contenders. This week, Dexterity stayed in their dominant top spot, with Auto Celerity moving to 2nd place and Zero Fox Gaming and Skorch Esports moving down to 3rd and 4th. The rest of the conference looks much like last week, with the addition of Overture upsetting both Zero Fox Gaming and Silverbacks as they look to turn a 1-5 record to a 10-6 record.

Zero Fox Gaming (12-2)

Although they are in third place, 12-2 is still an incredible record and could easily push for 2nd or 1st place as they reach the final week. They managed to get the better of bottom seed Disconnected Esports last week in a close game 5 series – this is perhaps a bit worrying but shouldn’t show signs of failure going into playoffs as they know they have already secured a good seeding. However, they managed to falter against Overture, a team on an incredible win streak on an 8-6 record. For Zero Fox Gaming, this will not mean much even though it is their worst defeat this season, as they are already looking to take a good seed and are most likely going to perform better on the playoffs weekend. They face top seed Dexterity and Elysian next week, so will need to win both games to guarantee a top 2 spot in the conference. Their match versus Dexterity will definitely be an exciting and important match to watch.

Overture (8-6)

From 1-5 to 8-6, these guys have had an incredible season, especially this week. After being the underdogs against Zero Fox Gaming and Silverbacks, they managed to come out on top – quite comfortably at that with two 3-1 victories. This shows incredibly good signs as they push to a wildcard spot and shows they could easily win the whole thing. With Wizard leading the team at 1865 DSN, this team doesn’t look to be the best on paper, which is why they had a rough start to this season. After working together as a team and building chemistry Wizard and his two teammates Vechs (1788 DSN) and Altrox (1773 DSN), this team has managed to pull through just when all hope was lost and be close to getting a playoffs position. They play Puncture and Tofu And Family next week and are the favourites going into these matches. This week, they managed to prove themselves against the top teams, but can they now prove their worth by getting the better of two lower teams?

Built By Us (7-7)

The team that won the preseason master tournament is surprisingly on the edge of losing a playoffs spot. Built By Us have managed to get consistent results, going 1-1 in most weeks. However, if they want a spot they will need to win both games this week and they face Aardwolf Esports who are looking a lot better after two 3-1 victories versus The Neon Flamingo and Override and Disconnected Esports who are bottom seed. Going into this week, it looks like they should be able to get the better of the two teams although they will be under a lot of pressure to do so. Only time will tell if these guys can clutch a playoffs spot.

Game to Watch: Zero Fox Gaming vs Dexterity

Although both teams have made playoffs, this will be one of the best matches of this season. At face value this may seem that this is a match that has little to nothing on the line, however, the winner of this match will be in the top 4 seeding (providing Zero Fox also beat Elysian). Both of these teams are incredibly high skill level as well and some are former teammates which will make the match even more exciting. Last season, Bope, Capra and Marmoan got top 4 in master with each other alongside GM Tburger and all 4 of these players will be playing in this series. Tburger and Marmoan representing Zero Fox Gaming, and the other two representing Dexterity.

Prediction: Dexterity 3-1 Zero Fox Gaming

Predicted Top 6

  1. Dexterity
  2. Auto Celerity
  3. Skorch Esports
  4. Zero Fox Gaming
  5. Overture
  6. Silverbacks
