6 weeks of action has passed and just two remain as the battle for playoffs-qualification intensifies!

RL Ireland (10-2)

It has become a weekly occurrence to have RLI as the first writeup of the conference and that is a testament to their consistency and overall skill. They have now been at the top of the table for more than half of the season and it looks like they are going to continue that way for the rest of League Play. This week, they had games against Elated and Override. They dispatched the struggling Elated 3-0 as expected and although the match against Override was a 5 game thriller, they got the win and at this point in league play, one win is all that is needed. Next week is looking like an extremely important week for them. They go up against Auto Celerity first this week and this should not be a difficult game for them given their recent form. However, the other game will be the most vital of the season, they go up against Fort Templar and this could be the deciding factor between who finishes first and second in the division. They have now 100% solidified playoffs but they will want more and I’m sure we will see more in the coming weeks.

The Neon Flamingo (8-4)

After a tough week last week, it was clear this was going to be a deciding week for Neon Flamingo. They could either continue on their bad run of form, or they could progress in the league and escalate to last season’s levels. It looks like they have done the latter of the two and with wins against both Regulars and Galamo they have turned around since last week and this will give them some much needed confidence. They have almost secured playoffs and with a tough week this week, against Elysian and Puncture, they are going to have to dig deep to maintain their 3rd place spot.

Built By Us (7-5)

BBU have looked like a very average team this entire season and after going 1-1 all 5 weeks so far they have finally altered the pattern and have finally achieved a 2-0 week, and at a perfect time too. They got wins against eMerge and Elysian in a convincing fashion, only dropping one game and this could be a show of things to come for the remainder of the season. They look in good shape to make a final push for playoffs and if they can continue this form, there is no reason why they can’t make it there.

Game of the Week: Fort Templar vs RL Ireland

This could be the game that decides who is top and who is second in the Mu conference. These teams have been at the top of the table since week 3 and it looks to be a straight fight until the end. It will be a high action game and one that should not be missed so keep your eyes peeled.

Prediction: Fort Templar 3-2 RL Ireland

Predicted Top 6

  1. RL Ireland
  2. Fort Templar
  3. Neon Flamingo
  4. Zero Mercy
  5. Built by Us
  6. Override Esports

Donde Esports (6-6)

Composed by Eskimoose, Ali, Lvl 1 Crook and Goose, this team is located in the 9th position, with the same record as Shadow Esports and Austrian force (6-6), just behind them by goal difference. This week, Donde Esports won both series 3-1 against Tofu and Family and Disconnected Esports.

Next week, we are going to see them play against Shaman Esports and Aardwolf Esports, two very hard matches for sure!

Fearless Esports (7-5)

Fearless Esports are undoubtedly one of the biggest surprises this season! After a very bad start, going 1-5 in Week 3, the team won every single series and is now positioned in 6th, with a 7-5 record and a 54.35% win-rate. The team won their series this week against Hive Athens EC and Team Berserkers, one due to FF, and the other was a 3-2 win against the latest.

The last time we covered this team, the roster was Crisps, xm, Buddha and Hxrry. They ended up replacing Hxrry with NC. Other than that, the team is pretty much the same, but that player change seemed to make a big difference on the team, and their recent performances show that.

Next week, they are going up against Natural Disaster and Shaman Esports, two teams that are in the top 5 in the Omega conference.

Game of the week: Austrian Force 0-3 Shadow Esports

And as we predicted, the game to watch last week ended up in a sweep! Shadow Esports won without dropping a single game, an important win in their road to playoffs.

The match started off with an overtime win for Shadow, ending in a 2-1 result, and the scoreline escalated as the series went on, going to 5-1 in game 2 and ending up 8-2 in game 3, a solid and important win for Shadow Esports.

Axiom had the most team MVPs for Austrian Force, while Infernox had the most for Shadow Esports.

Game to watch: Shadow Esports vs Reflux

One match between two really good teams! The favourites from the conference Reflux, and the previous winners of the prospect conference Shadow Esports! It’s going to be a tough and important match for both teams for sure.

Prediction: Shadow Esports 0-3 Reflux

Predicted Top 6

  1. Reflux
  2. Shaman Esports
  3. Dexterity
  4. Natural Disaster
  5. Aardwolf Esports
  6. Shadow Esports

Fort Templar (11-1)

All good things come to an end, and Fort Templar’s unbeaten run is one of those things. In Week 5 it was two game 5 wins that kept a hold on the winless season, and those close victories caught up with them this week. They started off last week with a 3-1 victory over The Neon Flamingo, and it all looked set to go 12-0. They even won the first two games again their other opponents, Fearless Esports. But Fearless pulled out an amazing performance to reverse sweep Fort Templar and give them their first loss of the season – and we will have to wait until a future season to see the first ever unbeaten league play season in IEL.

Auto Celerity (10-2)

Auto Celerity went into week 6 knowing that they needed to win both their series to reach that all-important 10 wins milestone, securing their spot in playoffs. They started with an expected sweep over low-placed Elated Esports, which set them up for an impressive 3-1 victory over the Neon Flamingo, a team in a similar place to them in the table. AC add their names to the list of tems from the Delta Conference that are confirmed for playoffs,

Disconnected Esports (6-6)

With a 6-6 record, Disconnected have to win all 4 of their remaining games to effectively guarantee a place in playoffs. They won both their series in week 6 to keep this hope alive, dropping only a single game in total in their clashes with Shadow Esports and Regulars. Built By Us and Skorch await in week 7, followed by a slightly harder final week against Reflux and Fearless. If they lose one of these games they leave it up to win percentage and other teams’ results, so they will be aiming to make it easy and take 4 series wins.

Game to Watch: Fearless Esports vs The Neon Flamingo

These teams are both on 7-5 records, but arrived there from very different places. Fearless won both their week 6 series, and so have momentum to push on and grab that playoffs spot. The Neon Flamingo were looking very strong until last week where they lost two series, blowing the fight for the automatic playoffs places wide open – and that is what these two teams are fighting for in this matchup.

Predicted Top 6

  1. Fort Templar
  2. LA Gaming
  3. Auto Celerity
  4. RL Ireland
  5. Reflux
  6. Fearless Esports

Overture (10-2)

Overture had not lost a game since Week 1, but after sweeping Zero Mercy last week, they lost 3-2 to Team Berserkers, who are also a top team. The upcoming weeks for Overture look very favourable for them considering they play teams in 8th place or below, so from here on out, a 14-2 record is more than attainable for them.

In Week 7, they play Natural Disaster (5-7) and Aardwolf Esports (4-8) so this should be an easy 2-0 week for them as they still look like one of the strongest teams in the Challenger League this season.

Zero Fox Gaming (9-3)

Rvfrsh came back from his break in Week 5 and he once again showed that he is one of the best challengers this season managing 507,67 Points Per Game against eMerge Gaming (3-9) who they swept, and 398,25 Points Per Game against Donde Esports (4-8) who they beat 3-1. That week just shows the difference that one player makes and as the season will continue we will keep watching Zero Fox Gaming as they should have a fairly easy couple of matches until Week 8 where they face Team Berserkers who managed to beat Overture.

We should focus on Week 7 though, where Zero Fox play Tofu and Family (6-6) and Aardwolf Esports (4-8), this looks like a fairly easy week for them and this will make Zero Fox go 11-3 which means they have secured Playoffs.

Austrian Force (7-5)

Austrian Force’s bad run of form just seems to keep going as they managed to go 6-5 after having been 6-0. The worst thing about this is that they lost 3-1 to Galamo Esports who are currently sitting at the bottom of the Zeta Conference with a record of 2-10… They did manage to beat Hive Athens EC 3-1 through but if they keep losing to teams that they really should beat their hope of playoffs will be over fairly quickly as they still have tough teams to come.

Next week, Austrian Force has got to play the #1 seed Elysian who are currently sitting at 11-1. This game is most likely a loss for them as it is just unlikely that they cause an upset after having lost to teams like Galamo Esports. Austrian Force should instead focus on their game against Tofu and Family who are currently 6-6. This game is a must-win game if they still want a chance at making playoffs so they really have to take the games that are on the easier side.

Game to Watch: Team Berserkers vs Silverbacks

For Team Berserkers, this game does not mean a lot as they only really need 1 win to make the playoffs. But for Silverbacks who are currently sitting at 7-5, it’s getting to the point where they have to start to get the last wins they need to make it. An upset against Team Berserkers would be very good for Silverbacks as it would not completely secure them playoffs, but looking at the rest of their games if Silverbacks manage to beat a top team they will be looking very good going forward. But looking at the fact that Team Berserkers beat Overture last week who I considered being the strongest team in the Zeta Conference, this is going to be a very tough task for Silverbacks but nothing is impossible if you have the right motivation.

Predicted Top 6

  1. Elysian
  2. Overture
  3. Zero Fox Gaming
  4. Team Berserkers
  5. Austrian Force
  6. Silverbacks

With two weeks left to go in League Play, it’s time to reflect on the sixth week of fixtures in the Alpha Conference, and see which teams are on the verge of making playoffs.

Fort Templar (10-2, 1st)

Fort Templar have returned to the top of the standings after they managed to sweep both Elated Esports and Natural Disaster to put them on top of the pile heading into Week 7. This week, they’ll face harder opponents in the form of RL Ireland and Fearless Esports, two teams that are battling it out to try and clinch a guaranteed place in the playoffs by finishing in the Top 4 at the end of League Play.

Galamo Esports (7-5, 7th)

Having won seven of their last eight series, Galamo Esports are on a mission to recover from their 0-4 start to the season, after beating teams such as Fearless Esports and Zero Mercy to put themselves in seventh place heading into the final two weeks. This week, they will play eMerge Gaming and Elated Esports, which could prove to be two easy series for Galamo to extend their phenomenal winning streak.

Reflux (8-4, 3rd)

Reflux managed to bounce back from their 0-2 Week 5 performance in convincing fashion, by managing to sweep the former league leaders Shadow Esports, to add to a 3-2 win over eMerge Gaming, to put them in 3rd place on 8 wins and 4 losses. One of their opponents this week will be LA Gaming, a team that shares the same win-loss record, meaning that this could be a vital series to win if Reflux are to contend for a Top 2 spot.

Game to Watch: Reflux vs LA Gaming

After coming off of a 3-0 sweep over Shadow Esports last week, Reflux will feel as if they can take down anyone after that result, and this series could provide the perfect opportunity to prove that. LA Gaming, on the other hand, will want to rebound from their recent lack of form, having only won one of their past four series, and try and return to the form that saw them beat teams such as Fearless Esports and RL Ireland. However, I believe that Reflux are the stronger team at the moment, and I think that they will be the ones walking away with the victory here.

Prediction: Reflux 3-1 LA Gaming

Predicted Top 6

  1. Fort Templar
  2. Shadow Esports
  3. Reflux
  4. RL Ireland
  5. LA Gaming
  6. Galamo Esports

As we reach the final 2 weeks of season 8 league play, the final stretch for playoffs is about to end. Dexterity continue their dominant form and Zero Fox Gaming claimed a second-place spot – only a 0.99% win percentage behind Dexterity. This makes the top half of the table extremely close and seeding will make the battle for top seed all the more interesting. There are also 4 teams such as Overture and Elysian competing for a top 6 spot which will make the wildcard spot battles also very interesting. Speaking of Overture, they have had an incredible ‘Cinderella story’ this season as they battle their way from 1-5 to 6-6, all eyes are on this team as they continue to push through and surprise the competition to gain playoff glory.

Silverbacks (9-3)

Former top team Silverbacks has had a somewhat choppy second half of the season, as they went from 6-0 to 9-3. However, Silverbacks still have a top 4 position and are guaranteed playoffs. Silverbacks have proved that they have an edge over the top side teams and can easily dominate the lower half but are by no means an unbeatable team. With 2022 DSN player Jacksean leading the group this team is able to dominate at the top side. Last week, they were able to get the better of Built By Us in a close series but were defeated by top seed Dexterity. They have comfortable matches over the last 2 weeks of league play aside from Skorch Esports who currently sit at third place. This team should continue to dominate as they strive for a top 4 spot.

Auto Celerity (8-2)

Although they sit in 5th place, they are miles ahead of dropping to a 6th place spot, as Built By Us have a 6-6 record compared to Auto Celerity’s 8-2. This puts them in an incredibly good spot as all they have to do is win one more match and they won’t drop down a position and considering they have to play Disconnected Esports, Puncture and Shaman Esports who all have failed to reach playoffs they should succeed in keeping their position. Auto Celerity are comfortably ahead of the rest of the teams they have to play as well, with their hardest match being The Neon Flamingo who carry a 4-8 record. This team of Xegi (2082 DSN), Antmn (1901 DSN) and Azazel (1692 DSN) have proved themselves across this season as they have gotten the better of a few top teams such as Zero Fox Gaming who are 2nd place and Silverbacks who currently lie in 4th. They are very likely to make a playoffs spot, although they will like to increase their lead in the next 2 weeks.

Aardwolf Esports (4-8)
After an unfortunate week and a devastating loss to Puncture, this team has decided to do a full roster change. LuKee, Kian and Cian all left last week leaving Brun to create a new roster for the rest of the season. This resulted in picking up new IEL player Mzxy (1993 DSN), Rixy (1760 DSN and former The Neon Flamingo Challenger player Wlowns (1675 DSN). As they cannot make playoffs, this team will want to relax throughout the next 2 weeks and stop other teams making playoffs. They have to play Override and The Neon Flamingo this week, so they will hope to gain victories over them to make their placing a little bit higher as they hope to finish on an equal record. The week after however, will be a little tougher, as they play Built By Us who are 6-6 and if they defeat them it could cause them to lose a playoffs spot. A team that unfortunately cannot make playoffs, but can still finish with their heads high. On a final note, Aardwolf Esports were close to upsetting Hive Athens last week, as Brun played alongside Exonic and TinyElephant who both made their master debuts as they are challenger players. This match resulted in a 3-2 victory for Hive Athens but Aardwolf did extremely well to almost pull off a reverse sweep.

Game to watch: Hive Athens EC vs Elysian

Although both these teams are mid table teams, this will be an incredible match to watch. Hive Athens EC carrying a 5-7 record, one game away from failing to make playoffs for their first time ever and Elysian who have a 6-6 record who are also close to losing playoffs. The stakes are high for this match up and both teams will be incredibly nervous going into this match. With both teams close in skill, this series is sure to be a game 5 and will inevitably result in one team losing a playoffs spot. Be sure to keep an eye out for this matchup if it isn’t on stream!

Prediction: Hive Athens EC 2-3 Elysian

Predicted Top 6

  1. Dexterity
  2. Zero Fox Gaming
  3. Skorch Esports
  4. Auto Celerity
  5. Silverbacks
  6. Elysian
