IEL SEASON 8 POST-PLAYOFFS CHALLENGER REVIEW

Written by Freddy and Crispy

Last weekend was an exhilarating one as we saw Zero Fox Gaming crowned as the IEL Season 8 Challenger Champions!

Now it’s time to take a look at the key performers and moments from the Playoffs.

THE CHAMPIONS

Zero Fox Gaming are our Season 8 Challenger World Champions!

The roster consists of Rvfrsh, Kevin, The_Yellow_Krab and Nerivell.

They showed how good they were throughout the weekend with a flawless group stage performance, only dropping two games but still winning the series and afterwards, they proceeded to sweep eventual finalists LA Gaming.

Day 3 went even better as a 4-2 win in the Semi-Finals against Silverbacks got them into the Finals against LA Gaming once again.

The result did differ though as Zero Fox Gaming still showed that they were better in the end as with another 4-2 Win they became the Winners of Season 8.

Huge Congratulations to Zero Fox Gaming.

OUR MVP

Rvfrsh is our MVP as he has looked incredible the whole season. Even through roster changes, he has shown he is just better than the rest in the Challenger League.

Rvfrsh averaged 461 points per game, 1.29 goals, 0.82 assists and 1.47 saves, with all this it’s no wonder he has got a Performance Rating of 105 and a League Rating of  99.

In Playoffs, he also showed he was the best as he alongside the rest of Zero Fox tore through all teams they faced.

Honourable Mentions: Kevin

BEST MOMENT

Seeing a game 7 is always special, and the semi-final match between LA Gaming and Overture was an incredible game on the Sunday of playoffs. LA Gaming stormed to a 3-1 lead after Overture took game 1, and the series was brought to a decider after two tight games, including an Overtime in game 6. Game 7 went the way of LA Gaming, as they resisted the Overture fightback to claim a fantastic win and book their place in the Grand Final.

SURPRISE PACKAGE

There were impressive performances from many teams over the weekend, but Silverbacks came into playoffs as the 8th seed, with not many expecting them to do anything of note. An impressive sweep victory over RL Ireland set the stage for their playoffs run, as they were subsequently knocked down to the lower bracket and battled their way into day 3 with wins over The Neon Flamingo and Elysian – the latter in a dramatic 1-0 game 5 win. Their quarter-final against Reflux was expected to be a tight affair, but they blew all expectations away with a dominant 4-0 win, conceding just 3 goals over the course of the series. They ended up falling 4-2 to the eventual winners Zero Fox Gaming, an outstanding performance from the Silverbacks team.
