Good morning IEL, and welcome to the very first article on the new website! As the first week of league play has passed, the News Team have stringed together a series of writeups and power rankings for each conference in the Prospect, Challenger and Master leagues. Unfortunately we are again missing a writeup for the Omega conference, but you will still have the power rankings to keep you entertained!

Hopefully this is something to brighten up your Monday!

  1. Deathmask Gaming (+1)
  2. Clairvoyant (-1)
  3. Conquest (+13)
  4. Delta (+11)
  5. Auto Celerity (UK Uni RL) (-1)

  15. Triumph (-5)
  16. Fort Templar (-11)
  17. Hyve Central (-8)

With the first week of the Mu conference over, we can look over the early table places to see how the conference is taking shape. At the top of the table, there is the Number 1 and 2 teams in power rankings in the first and second spots, Clairvoyant and Deathmask Gaming. These teams have been obvious front runners from the rosters’ creation with high level experienced prospect players, such as Tutan and Bram or Deadeye and Crazi, and it has to be expected that they will be in those positions to stay and there is a high chance they will be in and around those positions by the end of the season. The only other team in the Mu conference that went the first week unbeaten was Conquest. This is a huge surprise as it is a large feat for the 16th ranked team to end up unbeaten and therefore 3rd at the end of the opening pair of games. This roster on paper should not be a threatening team but they are really proving that it doesn’t matter the DSN of the team, all that matters is how well the team can perform. This 2-0 record is made even more impressive when it is known that one of the wins was against the 4th ranked team, Auto Celerity (UK Uni RL), who have been looking very strong this season.

With there being 3 teams 2-0, there has to be 3 teams struggling at 0-2 after the first set of series, the first of those is Triumph, a pretty middle of the pack team on paper who is quite clearly underperforming. However, it has to be said that the opponents that they have faced have been high-level opposition, the first being the high flying Conquest and the second being Puncture, a team lead by GM Leweeyy who will be looking to emulate his playoff place last season. The other 2 teams that are winless are 2 new franchises in Fort Templar and Hyve Central; the first of these 2 is a surprise as Fort Templar have looked good in scrims and even got into the finals of the pre-season tournament, so they will be looking to go back to the previous form after this disappointing week.

Regrettably there is no write-up for the Omega conference this week either. This is due to last-second unforeseen events so we can apologise. (We are not necessarily in need of any writers, this is simply due to last-second issues).

  1. Bad Karma Esports (+8)
  2. Hyve Central (+4)
  3. Fort Templar (-)
  4. Dormant Esports (+3)
  5. Eidolon Esports (-)
  6. Built By Us (-5)

  15. eNightmare (-1)
  16. Conquest (-1)
  17. Delta (-)

If we have found out anything from this week, it is to expect the unexpected. Although there are a few teams that fit last week’s power rankings. The majority have shocked us all in one way or another.

At the top, we have Bad Karma and Hyve Central. Bad Karma have proven that the elite chemistry Sup3rm4nX and Keiirs posses has been too much to handle in the early stages of the league as rosters try to find their footing. And as for Hyve, they’re proving their DSN’s worth and are looking to continue to impress as league play progresses.

Teams in the hunt for the top 2 spots are Fort Templar, Dormant Esports and Eidolon Esports. All 3 teams finished week 1 with a 2-0 record but didn’t quite get the 100% win rate that Bad Karma and Hyve gotten. But nevertheless, all these teams have a great chance to take the top spot by the end of the week, especially teams such as Eidolon, who are facing off against Hyve Central in week 2.

In the middle of the pack, we have teams such as Team Berserkers, Clairvoyant and Galamo Esports. Both Berserkers and Clairvoyant have failed to meet expectations in week 1, but it’s only early doors and they will look to bounce back in week 2, and on the flip side. Galamo has more or less met expectations as they go into week 2 with a 1-1 record.

The teams that failed to get going this week are eNightmare, Conquest, and Delta. As predicted, all 3 rosters have had shaky starts to the season with all of them going 0-2. But they will be looking to pull off some early upsets in their next two matches.

Hyve Central – tburger

Week 1, saw Hyve Central demolishing Triumph and Lions Gaming, going into week 2 Hyve Central will face against Galamo Esports and Eidolon Esports. If the roster can play to their strengths and perform well on the day they should comfortably beat Triumph however Eidolon will be a tougher challenger and it will come down to which of the two teams’ stars will perform better and lead from the front on the day, it will come down to ‘CammyB’ vs ‘Locks’.

Lions Gaming – tburger

Lions gaming faced possibly the hardest possible teams in week 1 as they received a heavy defeat to Hyve Central and a close series lead to them edging a 3-2 win over Eidolon Esports. Many expected them to go 0 – 2 but their record shows they are not a team to be complacent against and especially if ‘Vyrok’ is having a good day then they will be a very difficult team to beat.

  1. Reflux (+2)
  2. Golden Age (+4)
  3. Elated Esports (+6)
  4. Juicy Esports (+9)
  5. Nootz (+12)
  6. Team Peculiarity (+2)
  7. Auto Celerity (UK Uni RL) (+4)
  8. Crossbar Heroes (-7)
  9. Ruyter Esports (-2)
  10. Puncture (+2)
  11. Deathmask Gaming (-7)
  12. Team Ascendant (-7)
  13. Primal Esports (+1)
  14. Tofu and Sons (+2)
  15. Prophecy (-)
  16. Disconnected Esports (-14)
  17. The Neon Flamingo (-7)

Reflux have a very aggressive roster as all players are very skilled attacking players, when they can play their offensive game no team in either conference can keep up with their raw mechanical ability. Reflux should be able to confidently beat Team Peculiarity whereas Golden Age will prove to be a much closer affair as both teams will be aiming for the top spot on the table. If ‘Capra’ and ‘AndasAP’ can get the edge over ‘Keryx’ and ‘JToPrey’ then it should be a confident and comfortable win for Reflux.

Team Ascendant

Team Ascendant have so far been succumbed to a thrashing by Golden Age and they were also closely edged out by Crossbar Heroes. Their record thus far is not a true reflection of how the season will pan out for them, if they can win some crucial close games, and confidently beat the teams which they are clearly better than, then they will be looking to be breaking into the top 6 and fighting for a playoff spot. Their roster is highly based around how ‘Azazel’ is playing on the day and on his day if the remainder of the roster can keep up, they are truly a force to be reckoned with.

  1. Eidolon Esports (-)
  2. Clairvoyant (+3)
  3. Deathmask Gaming (-1)
  4. Hyve Central (-1)
  5. Elated Esports (+2)
  6. Built By Us (-2)
  7. eNightmare (+3)
  8. Tofu and Sons (-2)
  9. Team Ascendant (+2)
  10. Shadow Esports (-1)
  11. Puncture (-4)
  12. Golden age (+2)
  13. Team Peculiarity (+1)
  14. Juicy eSports (+2)
  15. Delta (-3)
  16. Triumph (-3)
  17. Team Berserkers (-)

And here we go, Week 1 finally rolled out! Some teams had harder matchups than others, so let’s take a look at this week’s games!

Let’s start from the top: From the teams that are in the top 5 last week, only Hyve Central managed to not win a single series, with only one game won. Therefore, they are, for now, on the last positions of the league, losing to Clairvoyant and Deathmask. Two teams that were on top of them on the power rankings, taking only one game from the last team mentioned.

Clairvoyant won against two teams that had a higher DSN, getting the 2nd spot in the power rankings.
In the mid-table, we have Elated and eNightmare getting the biggest improvements in the power rankings, with Elated winning against Delta and Deathmask, the team that was 2nd in the power rankings in week 0, and eNightmare that won against Triumph and Puncture, this latter being three positions higher. Speaking of Puncture, they had the biggest fall on the rankings, mostly due to being swept by two lower teams last week.

As for the bottom, we have Golden Age and Juicy eSports being the biggest surprises, winning against two teams that were ahead of them in the rankings, with Golden Age beating Shadow 3-1 and Juicy sweeping Puncture 3-0. Delta and Triumph both fell by 3 positions and are in the bottom 3 of the rankings.

An interesting fact: Delta and Puncture are the only teams that currently have not won a single game. eNightmare and Team Ascendant are, however, on the opposite side, both not losing a single game yet.

That’s all for this week, it will be interesting to see how it will go next week and what surprises we will have!

  1. Fort Templar (+3)
  2. Bad Karma Esports (-1)
  3. RL Ireland (-1)
  4. Galamo Esports (+7)
  5. Lions Gaming (+3)
  6. Disconnected Esports (+3)
  7. Reflux (-4)
  8. Auto Celerity (UK Uni RL) (-1)
  9. Dormant Esports (-3)
  10.  Crossbar Heroes (-5)
  11.  Conquest (+1)
  12.  Regulars (+1)
  13.  Nootz (-2)
  14.  Primal Esports (+1)
  15.  Ruyter Esports (-1)
  16.  Prophecy (+1)
  17.  The Neon Flamingo (-1)

The first week of league play for the Gamma Conference has passed and what a week it has been. Currently at the top of the standings, we find Fort Templar, who have come into the IEL as a new franchise, and leave Week 1 with a perfect record after sweeping Reflux and Primal to take top spot in the conference. Despite only being one week in, only two other teams remain unbeaten after two series, those being Bad Karma and RL Ireland, albeit both teams having slightly worse win percentages when compared to Fort Templar.

Looking further down the standings, we find Lions Gaming, Disconnected Esports and Galamo Esports with more favourable win percentages when compared to the other teams with the same win-loss record, meaning that they are currently higher up in the standings. After only losing to Bad Karma in Game 5, Galamo Esports could be a team to watch out for in the coming weeks as they will be determined to stake their claim as a top tier team in the conference.

This season is set to be tight between the midfield teams as there are currently seven teams all with the exact same win-loss record and win percentage of 1-1 and 50%. This could be setting the scene of one of the closest conferences the IEL has ever seen if the first week is anything to go by. Be sure to stay tuned in the forthcoming weeks to find out who comes out on top in the Gamma Conference!

This week, SnUwU interviewed Khalim, a player of Conquest’s Prospect team.

1. Introduce yourself and the franchise you play for.

Hey my name is Khalim and I play for the conquest prospect team

2. How do you guys feel about the results from last season?

So this season is a completely new roster besides Ard who played last season. When us new players heard the news that conquest had a very bad previous season our main goal was to do better than that at the very least.

3. What are you guys going to do to not have a season like the last one?

Currently as a team we have taken part in a few scrims, done comp games and had a replay analysis session that was very thorough.

4. What are your expectations for this season?

For this season i reckon we could have a good run because we took down Auto celerity who are claimed to be one of the best teams but to stay on top we need to do some more grinding as a team.

5. How do you feel about your team’s performance this week?

This week our performance was insane. As a group and personally we thought that we would walk away with a win from triumph and a loss from AC so i really do have great expectations for our team.

6. It’s really early to ask, but are you guys making playoffs?

But yeah for sure we are taking a spot in playoffs. Just positive vibes and we going straight for the top.

7.What team would you rather not play 8. is there anything you want to say to the readers?

Honestly i think our conference is a little easier than the other however in scrims i have noticed that we lose to delta so we are going to have to step up our game against them, might even have to try out a different combo of players to counter them.

Is there anything you want to say to the readers?

To all you readers out there I just wanna say that if you’re on a roster or not remember that your passion for carball is what keeps this league running so shout out to all the admins and team leaders/owners and have a good one! P.S: Shoutout to Nootz prospect for letting me be a cheerleader and Vapid and Tezzer for being great teammates.
